How to Help
The Shuar have a vision, to preserve the forest and their ancient traditions. We have the potential to give their vision a voice. They are traditional people whose livelihoods are being threatened and yet they are considered the enemy for wanting to protect their homeland. Why should they be forced to give in to the demands of developed countries?
Here are ways you can help every day:
Eat ORGANIC foods; pesticides, fertilizers and additives are made with petrochemicals.
Buy LOCAL products and support your community! Transporting products great distances creates unecessary air pollution and fuel consumption.
Eat LESS MEAT; vast forests are destroyed to create grazing areas for cattle.
Wear NATURAL materials; many synthetics are petroleum-based.
REUSE plastic containers as much as possible before recycling them.
Drive SMALLER cars and CARPOOL whenever possible.
